Bar Coding
ITF 14 BAR CODE
The ITF14 Bar Code (Not EAN 128) is the industry standard for cardboard outer
cases.
The vertical bars must reproduce at 32 mm high (excluding the bearer
bars).
Charta
locates all bar codes in the "Specified Shipper Position to ensure they can be
used in all warehouse situations." This position is as follows:
The bar code bars (not the bearer bars) must be located 32 mm from the base
of the case.
A 19 mm quiet zone (no printing) is required on either side of the bar code
to ensure the scanner can cleanly detect its start and finish.*

Charta recommends that bar codes be printed in black for effective scan
readability.
